A single batch of sweet component stout from Russell’s Reserve barrels received double the coconut and additional oak of its counterpart, yielding a beer with gobs of coconut counterweighted with roughly five times the oak intensity of aging in barrels alone. Paired with heaps of texture-positive coconut and oak, this unblended sweet component is silky as the day is long, yet still finishes with stoic composure.
